Answer: There are three types of car insurance available in the UK to the private motorist; Third Party Car Insurance, Third Party Fire and Theft Car Insurance and Comprehensive Cover Car Insurance.

Question: What is the difference between these three forms of car insurance cover?

Answer: Third Party Cover is the minimum insurance cover required by the law and offers protection only for damages to the other cars and people in the unhappy event of an accident.

Third Party Fire and Theft offers the same basic cover required by the law and in addition the vehicle you drive will also have insurance cover for it catching fire or being stolen.

Comprehensive Car Insurance Cover will include both the previous forms of cover and in addition the vehicle itself will be insured against damage. Comprehensive Insurance can vary widely amongst car insurance providers and can include or exclude many incidental costs and expenses so always check around and consider quotations for car insurance carefully.
